antivirus protection
Norton - http://anti-virus-software-review.toptenreviews.com/norton-review.html
Is a good product for keeping your computer safe from viruses, but is not as effective as it should be against spyware. While it has a good track record of keeping viruses off of computers using it, it also has significant issues with slowing down computers that it is protecting. Symantec has done a lot to fix the slow down issues by reducing the amount of system resources used, but they still need to do more work to make the product a contender in the modern antivirus market.
AVG - http://www.download.com/AVG-Anti-Virus-Free-Edition/3000-2239_4-10320142.html
This antivirus program offers rock-solid protection. By default, the application is set to search for new virus definitions daily, but you always can use the scheduling tool to change this. Should a virus create serious system problems, AVG creates a rescue disk to scan your computer in MS-DOS mode. The program doesn't tax your system when scanning or when running in the background and always proved effective in our tests. The new interface is much easier to navigate than in previous version, with tabbed navigation on the left assisting users in drilling down to the tools they need
McAfee - http://anti-virus-software-review.toptenreviews.com/mcafee-review.html
McAfee is a name brand product that does an excellent job at detecting and removing viruses. Their update process can be somewhat tedious and their support department needs to answer their emails in a more timely manner.
Kaspersky - http://reviews.cnet.com/antivirus-and-filtering/kaspersky-anti-virus-6/4505-3681_7-32004282.html
If you're looking for an antivirus application that's light and fast and consistently wins detection awards against the competition, Kaspersky's the one. We found this antivirus application easy enough for beginners, with customization features that will please more advanced users, as well.
ZoneAlarm - http://reviews.cnet.com/internet-security-and-firewall/zonealarm-with-antivirus/4505-3667_7-30898743.html
ZoneAlarm with Antivirus doesn't block ads, manage cookies, or have all the perks of pricier security suites, including Zone Labs' own ZoneAlarm Security Suite, of course. configuration wizard leads you through setup, making it easy for everyday users to secure their systems fast however, ZoneAlarm with Antivirus doesn't perform a preinstallation scan, which would be an added measure of protection.
