there are many different reasons why having a portable operation system is good. Its good because you can turn any computer that works into your own computer, whether it has a password protected operation system or not. This is because you are not using their operation system you have your own., and its untraceable. But on the flip side the operation system loading time takes much longer than a harddrive boot and unless you have an external harddrive you cannot save data long term. Another thing is its difficult to put windows operating systems on a flashdrive (cannot do on a cd). Linux is the easiest operation system to install on it so if you do not like Linux its that your gonna have to take some time and attempt to tweak xp( cant use vista). afro

I agree with John that it's easy to put Linux on a USB drive or CD. It takes longer to load but it gets around Windows password protection. I also agree that putting Windows on a CD would be impossible and pretty difficult and not worth your time to put XP on a USB drive.
