Serial ports are ports that allow you to hook up a device to a computer. It allows information and data to flow one bit at a time. The serial ports have been around for along time and are becoming useless. Not only are the ports expensive they dont do as good of a job as other ports like USB and parallel. Common uses of this port are serial mice, printers, and dial-up modems. Serial ports are pretty much being replaced by USB.
