RJ11 is the standard connector utilized on 2-pair telephone wiring. RJ stands for Registered Jack. RJ11 is the most familiar of any RJ it is mostly used by North America. An RJ11 jack typically has 2 out of the 6 positions so it could be wired in a 6P2C modular jack. But these types of jacks are very rare to find. So Most often an RJ11 jack is a 6P4C jack. In a powered-up state Pins #5 and #2 may carry a low voltage AC or DC power. The extra wires can be pressed into service for a variety of different applications such as a ground for selective ringers, powering an L.E.D. ring-indicator operating off the ringer signal.
1) What is RJ11?
2) Where is it mostly used?
3) What type of modular jack very rare to find?
4) What modular jack it is mostly used it?
5) Give some example what can the extra wire be used for?
