Summary:
This article tells about the RJ-11 jack. The RJ-11 jack is most often used for telephone wirings. The abbreviation "RJ" stands for register jacks and other registered jacks similar to the 11 one is RJ-14, RJ-25 and RJ-61. This type of jack has 6 connector positions but normally only 2 to 4 are used. The higher the number the more lines that can be used, (RJ-25 3 lines...RJ-61 4 line etc.). Telephone lines normally supply enough power on their own and don't need any other cords, except for some cases in old phones. An RJ-11 jack can give out about 5 volts of power.

Quiz:

1) What is RJ-11 most often used for?
2) What does the abbreviation "RJ" stand for?
3) How many connector positions are there for this type of jack?
4) How many of these are generally used at a time?
5) How many volts can the RJ-11 jack give out?
