Fonts - Do they even have a point?
I believe fonts and typeface are art. The purpose of fonts is to convey a message clearly and stress an idea more strongly. Fonts should be expressive instead of just being plain; it appeals to the eye more and if used properly it can add meaning to the word(s). I think that where you grow up affects how someone views art because if one grows up in a community that doesn't stress the importance of art they will view it differently than someone who does. I saw an ad for Clover coffee the other day and it was being advertised as a "fine" coffee. The letters in Clover were in a fancy font so the idea that it is an elegant brand of coffee was stressed even more through the font.
